Clackamas Middle College has community spirit!
Students at CMC are involved in the community in a number of ways. One way is through the Youth Take Action class.
Youth Take Action (YTA) is a school-based service-learning program designed to connect education with service in the community. YTA is based on the following concepts:
- all students should be empowered and given a voice in addressing and solving real community problems;
- community organizations are valued partners as students design, implement, and evaluate service projects.
What are the requirements for YTA?
Each participating student is required to complete at least 20 hours of service through individual and group projects with community-based organizations. Once students are engaged in their service projects, they continue to learn by discussing, sharing and reflecting on their service activities in class.
How can you be involved?
We are always looking to create new, dynamic partnerships with local nonprofits in the Portland area. If you are interested in having our students volunteer with your organization, please contact the Youth Take Action teacher, Victor Castorini at firstname.lastname@example.org.
