Do you speak a language other than English?

North Clackamas high school students, who speak a language other than English, or who have acquired a World Language, can earn high school elective credits when they take the STAMP or WorldSpeak assessment.

What are the STAMP and WorldSpeak Language Assessments?

The STAMP (Standards-Based Measurement of Proficiency) and WorldSpeak are computer-based assessments that measure your level of proficiency in reading, writing, speaking and/or listening.

The assessments are aligned to state and national benchmarks for World Languages and can take up to 3 hours to complete.

The assessments are recognized by the Oregon Department of Education as meeting the requirements for State Seal of Biliteracy if the student demonstrates reading, writing, speaking, and listening at a Benchmark 6 or above.

What languages are offered?

  • STAMP assessment : Arabic, French, German, Hebrew, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin/ Cantonese (simplified and traditional), Polish, Portuguese (Brazilian), Russian, Spanish, Spanish Monolingual, Swahili, Yoruba

  • WorldSpeak assessment: Amharic, Armenian, Chin (Hakha), Chuukese, Czech, Filipino (Tagalog), Haitian-Creole, Hawaiian ('Ōlelo Hawai'i), Hmong, Ilocano, Kannada, Marathi, Marshallese, Samoan, Somali Maay Maay, Somali Maxaa, Tamil, Telugu, Turkish, Urdu, Vietnamese, Yup’ik, Zomi

For more information on STAMP Assessment, please see brochure below, or contact your student's school counselor. Practice assessments for the STAMP 4s and WorldSpeak are available here.

If the student has previously earned elective credit for high school world language courses taken in the same language, then STAMP credit will only be granted for proficiency beyond what the student has already demonstrated.

When is the assessment offered?

Equity & Instructional Services is excited to offer language assessments again FREE this school year to all NCSD 11th and 12th graders. This year’s assessments will be structured differently due to CDL. To prioritize student and staff safety, students will be able to register for a remote proctoring session on Wednesday, February 10, or Wednesday, April 21 (non-school days).

Students will be able to login to the assessment online with their Chromebooks while an NCSD staff member proctors the assessment and provides support live in a Google Meet.

Space is limited, so please encourage students to sign up early. Registration opens up 1 month prior....  https://www.nclack.k12.or.us/instructional/page/language-assessments
