Hello CMC Students!!

You may have noticed flyers around the school for an event coming up at CCC! Skills Competition Day is an exciting Career and College day for high school students on Thursday, February 28th! We encourage all of you to participate and take advantage of this opportunity to show your skills, learn new skills, and explore your future career possibilities! We had several CMC students WIN competitions over the years, so come represent!

All classes at the Oregon City and Harmony campuses are canceled until 4:00 pm so students taking CCC classes should be able to participate if you find an activity you're interested in. Pick up an informational booklet in Karyn's office and read more about the competition and all events here: https://www.clackamascareers.com/skills-competition/2019/ 

What's happening on campus:
  • CLACKAMAS REGIONAL SKILLS CONTEST - compete with other high school students from all over Clackamas County in your best skills!!! 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prizes are 12 FREE CCC Tuition Credits plus recognition in the region for winning! That is up to a $1200 prize!!

    • REGISTRATION IS OPEN - CONTESTS WILL FILL UP!! Please see Karyn to register or download the registration form here to turn into Karyn- deadline is Friday, 2/1 to register for your chosen event.  View the PDF of the competition booklet here for full descriptions of competitions or pick up a booklet in Karyn's office. Some have pre-event requirements. The sooner you register, the better to ensure you have a spot!

      Competitions will be held in:

       Art, Automotive, Biology, Business (Accounting & MS Word), Chemistry (Inorganic & Organic), Computer Science, Criminal Justice (Crime Scene Investigation & Policing), Education, Electronics, Engineering, Graphic Design, Health Sciences, Human Resources, Journalism, Manufacturing,  Mathematics (Individual & Team), Renewable Energy, Social Science (Essay & Social Laboratories), Student Life & Leadership, Theater (Monologue & Technical), Welding, World Languages.
  • Other Events on Campus During Skills Day: 

    • Want to connect with someone in your field? Looking for a job or internship? Attend the Youth Career Expo 2019 -  open from 8:30-12:00 in Randall Gym - meet representatives from regional businesses, colleges/universities, apprenticeships/trade programs, & other career pathways. Do not miss this opportunity to meet real people in real careers! 
      • CMC will be taking a group of students to the Career Expo, please see Karyn asap if you are interested in joining us.

    • Need free college credits? Participate in Senior Incentive (seniors and early juniors grads only) - Get a tuition waiver for 4 FREE CCC college credits for Summer 2019 to continue working on your college degree. See Karyn to register for sessions starting at 9:00, 10:00, and 11:00am.

    • Disability Resource Center - Open House from 10 am - 1 pm in the Community Center, Rooms 148 & 150

    • All About CCC Panel  for 9-12th students. See Karyn to register for 9am or 11am session. 
Please let Karyn know by email or in person that you want to register for a Skills Competition Event, the CCC Panel or the Senior Incentive ASAP as competitions can fill up. The deadline to register is Friday 2/1. All events take place between 8:30-1:00pm on Thursday February 28th.
