NCSD recognizes and values the language(s) students speak and bring to their academic studies and encourages students in the continued study of languages. Teaching, Learning & Professional Development is excited to offer language assessments again FREE this school year to all current NCSD 9th- 12th graders.
The STAMP (STAndards-Based Measurement of Proficiency) assessment awards students up to 4 high school elective credits (Applied Arts -AR) for knowledge of a world language. Students are able to use the STAMP to demonstrate literacy in a language(s) and fulfill the requirements to earn the State Seal of Biliteracy at graduation.
Registration for the following language groups is now open. Flyers are attached below.
STAMP 4S Assessment : Arabic, French, German, Hebrew, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin (simplified and traditional), Polish, Portuguese (Brazilian), Russian, Spanish
STAMP WS Assessment: Amharic, Armenian, Bengali, Cabo Verdean, Chaldean, Chin (Hakha), Chuukese, Czech, Filipino (Tagalog), Greek, Haitian-Creole, Hawaiian ('Ōlelo Hawai'i), Hmong, Ilocano, Kannada, Khmer, Marathi, Marshallese, Nepali, Pashto, Persian (Farsi), Punjabi, Samoan, Somali Maay Maay, Somali Maxaa, Swahili, Tamil, Telugu, Thai, Tigrinya, Turkish, Ukrainian, Urdu, Vietnamese, Yoruba, Yup’ik, Zomi
STAMP for American Sign Language (ASL)
Additionally, NCSD is excited to continue to be able to offer additional language assessments through the ALTA Language Assessment. The number of languages NCSD can offer through this platform includes: Burmese, Cambodian, Dari, Gujarati, Kurdish, Mongolian, Oromo (only available in the Afaan Oromo dialect), Romanian
