State Testing for CMC Juniors (Required) No School for College Prep (If you attend classes at CMC) Grades 9.10, &12 - College Classes are as Scheduled

Clackamas Middle College Community,

This communication is to inform you of a few important dates coming up, along with information pertaining to these dates as they relate to Clackamas Middle College.  There will be no school for any freshmen, sophomores, or seniors who have classes in our College Prep Program on Friday, May 2^nd, as we will be administering the Oregon State Assessments to all juniors.  Students in grades 9, 10, and 12 who are enrolled in our college programs will have regular scheduled classes.  This state assessment is required for all juniors that are enrolled in Clackamas Middle College. 

We will be administering both the math and the English/language arts (ELA) assessment on Friday, May 2^nd.  Juniors are required to take both tests as evidence of their proficiency toward the “Essential Skills” graduation requirement.  These assessments will also show the level of effectiveness of our instructional programs and how they connect to state standards.

In addition to the Oregon State Assessments, we use multiple measures of assessments to monitor and help improve student achievement. These assessment results may be used to provide students with feedback regarding the degree to which they have mastered the knowledge and skills to succeed in our college programs at CMC.

Administering this test on Friday, May 2^nd allows us to ensure:

·         Fair and equitable testing for each student

·         Standardized test administration so that the testing environment is similar for all students

·         Test security and student confidentiality practices

·         Test validity and accuracy

·         Efficiency to minimize the burden for students, teachers, and school test coordinators

If you are a junior in any of our programs at CMC, plan on being here for the full day from 8:50am-2:50pm on both Friday, May 2^nd.  Prior to the first assessment, we will be providing breakfast snacks and beverages.  We also will be providing lunch for those who are interested prior to our testing in the afternoon.  We believe this will help all our juniors perform to the best of their ability.
