Clackamas Middle College (CMC) Community,

I hope this communication finds your family safe and well.  As we wind down the winter trimester, I want to thank you for your patience and flexibility as we begin the transition to the spring trimester.  This communication is to remind the CMC Community that Friday, February 25th will be an asynchronous learning day to help improve our educational delivery for the remainder of the school year.

At CMC, we have approximately one-third of our students in our College Prep Program engaged in Comprehensive Distance Learning (CDL) or Distance Learning Protocol (DLP).  As families in our community can’t come to school (in-person) due to safety issues, we have simulcasted (broadcast classes live) our daily lessons virtually during scheduled class time.  This is a very important aspect of our school during this pandemic as it gives access to classes/lessons to all our students.  Therefore, we are using the time on Friday, February 25th to improve the process so that families can receive the best possible education during this difficult time.  We will also be using this time to allow teachers the opportunity to reach out to students in need of support, and to give teachers time to plan effectively for simulcasting during the remainder of the winter trimester as well as the spring trimester.  Because of this, Friday, February 25th will be an asynchronous learning day.  This means that students should access their class work on this day through their Google Classrooms.  This also means that there won’t be classes streamed live through Google Meet on this day.

Thanks for your continued support, patience, and flexibility in helping us provide the best possible education to our community.

Take care and stay safe.

Brian
