Hello MTH-095 Students and Parents,

Happy new year!

Below are the details for your MTH-095: Algebra III course as well as some information from your instructor, Ted Bieber. This course will complete your high school requirement for Algebra 2.

Your first day of class is this Monday, January 8th!!!

Please plan on attending a MTH-095 support session with me on Tuesday, January 9th in the Commons during 2nd period: 10:30 am - 11:20 am.

MTH-095:
Algebra III

Days:
Monday / Wednesday

Time:
9:00 am - 10:50 am

Location:
Harmony WEST room 230 (new building)

Textbook:
You will be given an online access code in lieu of a textbook for math. Your instructor will provide this information the first day of class.

TI-83 or 84 Plus Graphing Calculator:
You will need a graphing calculator for the course. You will be allowed to use the free program called Desmos for your graphing calculator needs. This can be accessed via computer or smart phone app. Other options include:
Purchase your own TI-83 or 84 Plus graphing calculator. Amazon is recommended for lower pricing.
Rent a TI-83 or 84 Plus graphing calculator from the ASG at CCC. It's $20 to rent one for the term.

Information From Your Instructor - Ted Bieber:
We will be using 2 online tools: Moodle and ConnectMath. ConnectMath is an online homework and learning platform from McGraw-Hill. (connectmath.com) A 2 week free access code will be provided on day one for the students. Almost 25% of the final grade for the course comes from the ConnectMath homework. It is important the students are able to access Moodle from day one. Videos, grades, answer keys, handout copies, PowerPoints, and many other classroom materials are located there.

Students will need :

A TI-83 or TI-84 calculator ß VERY IMPORTANT TO HAVE FROM DAY ONE.
Three ring binder (for storing written homework and in-class notes)
Pencils (Mechanical are preferred) and erasers
Some type of non-black colored pen or pencil (for corrections to homework)
Paper for in class notes and scratch work (most types of paper will be fine)
Students should expect:

Students should expect to be doing about 8 hours of reading and homework work outside of class each week, some a little less, some a little more.
Online homework will be due (for the most part) on Sunday nights at 11:59 PM.
Handwritten homework sheets will be often completed outside of class
There will be 2 midterms and a comprehensive Final Exam. Almost 60% of the final grade will come from these three exams.

Please let me know if you have any questions at all!
