Welcome to Cellular Biology
Good Morning Parents and Students!
I hope that you all had an enjoyable spring break and that the transition back to school hasn't been a difficult one. I am writing to introduce myself to you, my name is Hannah Andrews and I teach Health and Biology. Whether I have taught you (or your student) before or if you are brand new, I want to welcome you! We are going to have a great spring term together!
Today in Cellular Biology we set up our spiral notebook that we will be using for the entire term. The majority of the coursework will be done in this notebook; so it is important to do the assignments and to bring it to class everyday. It is imperative that you (your student) stay on top of the assignments given because this notebook really will be your (their) tool to success in this class. The notebook is called an InterActive Notebook which is a teaching and learning tool which utilizes both hemispheres of the brain to help students learn. The notebook becomes a portal for teacher input (notes, worksheets, etc) and student output (creative interpretations of the material).
To stay up to date on what we are doing in class, I encourage everyone to subscribe to my CMC website page. It is on this page I will post lessons, powerpoints, assignments, and homework. To access my health class, just click on "Classes/Homework" then the "Science" tab, followed by "Cellular Biology".
Lastly, I would like to invite all parents and students to join the Remind App and receive free texts or emails from my class. Remind App is a safe way for students, parents, and teachers to be in contact with each other without knowing anyone's personal contact information. I use remind in my classroom to send reminders about upcoming tests, assignments, or to tell students what pages to study for quizzes. You can choose to sign up and receive messages via text, email, or in the app itself. I highly encourage you to join my classes. If you had previously joined my class last term, I have cleared all participants so that students no longer in my class will get messages they don't need; so please sign up again!!
To subscribe via text simply send the following class code as a message to the phone number 81010. If you or your student is in Health, the class code is @cellularbi
Alternatively to sign up via email, head to www.remind.com/join and enter the class code and then your email address.
I look forward to teaching you (your student) and having a great trimester 2. Please feel free to contact me if you ever need anything or want to check in on your students' progress. I am always available via email [email protected] and I am in my classroom for office hours from 7:45-8:45 and 2:45-3:45 most school days.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Andrews
