Reduced-Price Bus Passes for CCC Students!

On Dec. 15, the CCC Bookstore will begin selling a discounted TriMet pass for the winter term. The pass is valid from date of purchase until March 31, so students who buy early can save more. And, for the first time, students who receive financial aid may be eligible for a short-term loan for the $270 cost of the term TriMet pass.

CEO December Updates

  • REMINDER: Academic Standing Policy - Please review the CMC Academic Standing Policy. Students must successfully complete all CEO classes with “C” grades or higher to remain in the CEO program.
  • TEXTBOOK RETURN: CEO textbooks to Crystal no later than Wednesday, Dec., 16th. You will not be cleared for winter term tuition payment if you have not returned any fall term books checked out from Crystal.
  • Fall Term Grades and Winter Term Schedules are due no later than Wednesday, Dec. 16th. You will not be cleared for winter term tuition payment until your grades have been reviewed and your winter term schedule has been approved.

Today's (11/30) senior meeting has been postponed until Monday, 12/14 to allow for finals preparation this week. The senior meetings for December are on the following dates:
 
Thursday 12/10 - 12:15 - 1:00 pm
Monday 12/14 - 12:00 - 12:45 pm
 
Please make sure to attend ONE meeting this month to stay on track with your Internship Experience and Graduation Planning.

CEO Winter Term Registration & CMC Course Offerings

Hello CMC CEO Students!
 
CCC opens their registration window for Winter Term on Tuesday, Nov 17th. (Check your notification in your MyClackamas account for your specific registration time). Please make sure to register for a minimum of 7 credits. CEO students will receive $800 for Winter Term tuition. 
 
Please view the CMC Winter Term Schedule to see what is being offered at the CMC campus next term. As you are registering for classes this week, please make sure to schedule around any required classes at CMC (such as YTA, Math, etc) and also confirm with your counselor any requests you have for specific classes or periods. 
 
 
Attached is our class period schedule for help with planning. Please submit your requests to your counselor as soon as possible. All requests will be fulfilled based on high school credit needed and priority will be given to Seniors and upperclassmen. You will receive your confirmed Winter Term schedule by the week of December 10th.

This is a reminder to please submit your midterm progress report with grades and attendance information from your CCC classes (and CMC if you have any) by this Friday, November 6th! Form is available here. 
 
Emails from instructors are OK if you want to forward their responses or a print out from Moodle will work as well if your instructor posts current grades. Please submit all grades to your counselor by the deadline. 
 
A completed progress report is required each term in order for you to be eligible to receive the CEO tuition payment. 

FRIDAY 11/6 is COLLEGE APPLICATION DAY at CMC from 9:00am-1:00pm!!

College Application Week Reminder - Friday (tomorrow) 11/6 is College Application Day from 9:00am-1:00pm!!  

WEAR YOUR FAVORITE COLLEGE GEAR!!

This day is for anyone who is:

  • Applying to college and needs help with application - essays, deadlines, transcripts, etc.
  • Searching for colleges to apply to and needs help narrowing down choices
  • Has already applied - come let us know what you have already submitted to enter into our raffle!
  • Planning to apply for financial aid or scholarships and needs help
  • Has questions about college!

 

Volunteers from colleges and the community will be on campus in the commons from 9:00am - 1:00pm to help students with college applications, review college entrance essays and help answer any remaining questions. This is a great opportunity for seniors to get help with their college applications, and help with any remaining questions regarding choosing or applying to a college of your choice. CCC Staff will be helping out so be sure to take advantage of this unique opportunity!

CAW Week Schedule of Events:  

Monday:
Lunchtime Workshop - How Do I Pay for College?: (senior meeting)

Lisa Brookshier from OSAC, ASPIRE, will give a presentation open to all students on OSAC’s Finding Funds for College. OSAC has over 475 scholarships available for all students! Find out how to research and apply for scholarships, pay for college, and find creative ways to make college affordable! Great for seniors and Juniors, CEO and Pathways.

Lunchtime Workshop – The College Path: Why It Matters:

Jessica Ruiz, Student Recruitment Coordinator at MHCC will give a presentation on the college path and how it can lead to a career. This is a great opportunity for 9th, 10th, and 11th graders to hear from a college representative why college matters and how to begin searching for the college and career that interests you.

Tuesday:
Lunchtime Workshop - How do I Choose (and Get Into) a College?:

A panel of former CMC students will discuss their experiences in selecting a college, tips for successful admissions, and why they chose the college they did. This is a seminar that allows current students to ask questions to alumni to help inform their college and career decision. Great opportunity for all students.

Wednesday:
Lunchtime Workshop – How Does College Connect to My Career?:

Kara Leonard and the CCC Career Center Staff will be hosting a workshop exploring the opportunities that a college education can open up for career goals. Learn first-hand from Career Services experts how volunteering, work experience, and college choice can make you career goals a reality. This workshop is a great opportunity for all students interested in CCC, and AAOT Transfer degrees, Pathways and CEO students.

Thursday:
Lunchtime Workshop – Why Did I Choose To Go To College?:

A fun Q&A session with your beloved CMC Staff and Faculty. Find out how your favorite teachers and staff members became the rock stars they are today. Learn first-hand how college choice and career decisions shaped their life. An excellent workshop for all CMC students.

Friday:
College Application Day: from 9 am-1 pm:

CAW Week Advisory Competition & Events

College Application Week is an opportunity for CMC students to participate in a fun and healthy competition that celebrates the College and Career Process by mixing competitive activities with week-long guest speakers, and lunchtime workshops for students to learn more about college in Oregon. Students who participate in the week long events will be entered to win raffle prizes and the winning Advisory will receive a pizza party Friday afternoon.

Monday:

Morning Announcement: Kickoff announcement of the purpose of CAW, announce activities for the week. CAW Week is a school wide celebration of college preparedness and learning how to select a college path that leads to your career dreams. Students are encouraged to participate fully in the Advisory competition and to attend lunchtime events. Students who participate in lunchtime events will receive a raffle ticket for each event attended and will be entered into a raffle for prizes awarded at the end of the week!

Tuesday: Advisory Competition Begins!

Advisory Activity - Door Decoration: Each Advisory period will be designated one of seven Oregon colleges and will begin decorating their door with that school’s mascot, colors etc. for our college door contest. The Advisory with the best decorated door will receive points towards the overall advisory competition!

Thursday: Advisory Competition Continues!

Advisory Activity – Online College Scavenger Hunt: Each Advisory will be given an online college scavenger hunt that will help students learn more about each of Oregon’s Colleges while competing against other Advisory periods. The Advisory with the most point’s wins the scavenger hunt and points will totaled with the Door Decorating Competition for an overall competition winner.

Friday: Leadership Announces the Advisory Competition

Morning Announcement:  An all school wrap up to announce the winner of the Advisory Competition, Best Door, Scavenger Hunt. The Advisory with the best combined score wins a pizza party at lunch! Raffle Prizes for students who attended workshops!



Senior Meeting this Week! Thursday 10/22

Don't forget at attend our last October senior meeting this Thursday 10/22 during lunch from 12:15-1:00 at CMC. If you could not make either meeting this month, please let me know if you haven't already.
 
All students should be logging on to Naviance to complete your October assignments for the Internship Experience class that are due on 10/31. See your Internship Experience Handbook for your assignments and due dates. 

Portland National College Fair!

It's not too late to join us for the college fair this Friday! Return a permission slip to me asap if interested - we will be leaving CMC at 9:30 and returning by 12pm. 

If you are attending, make sure to pre-register for the Portland National College Fair. Use this link to register and print your bar code ahead of time to make the most of your time at the fair.
 
At the fair, you are encouraged to interact with at least 3 colleges and track your activity on the College Fair Checklist
 

CEO Updates Sept 20th - Oct 13th

Please read these important CEO reminders for end of week 2:

  • Check your CCC account balance – You are responsible for any balance over $800. Please make sure to pay your tuition bill by Friday, October 9th by 5pm.  This should be paid by the end of week 2 to avoid late fees (see pg. 6 of the Fall schedule). In your MyClackamas account, click on Payment Information, then Pay & Account Information. How to make a payment through Touchnet.

  • Upcoming field trips – 

    • College Fair is Coming Up! There are available spots (first-come, first-served) for CEO students to attend the Portland National College Fair on Friday, October 23rd from 9:30-12:00pm. Please return permission slips (form here) to me by Wednesday, October 14.

    • CMC Trip to the Winterhawks game!! Return signed permission forms for the Winterhawk game to me by Tuesday, Octrober 23rd to ensure your spot. The money for the ticket will be collected later. (form here)

  • CMC Academic Standing Policy - We have updated our Academic Standing Policy for Pathways and CEO students (document here). Please make sure to read it over to know the academic expectations of our college transition programs.

CEO Announcements 10.1.15:

  • Please make sure to return the CEO student contract to your counselor by Monday, October 5th.
  • If any issues arise with your schedule, contact your counselor immediately to communicate and troubleshoot. CEO students are not permitted to make any changes to their college schedules without prior counselor approval.
  • If you purchased your textbooks, please make sure to keep your original receipt for reimbursement at the end of the term.
  • Get started at the beginning of the term with the Learning Center at CCC for tutoring in all subjects!

Message to New CEO Students:
 
Congratulations on making it to the next level in your journey towards reaching your college and career goals! We are looking forward to supporting you this year as your CEO counselors and want you to be prepared so you will have a successful year in the CEO program. 
 
All new CEO students are required to attend an informational meeting this Friday, September 25th from 12:00-12:45 at CMC to ensure you have all the information needed to get started this term. In the meantime, please check out ALL the files uploaded on this page to help you get ready before classes start! There is a helpful step-by-step checklist of things to do and tips to help you before your first day. (see files attached at the bottom of this page)
