The Asian American Youth Leadership Conference (AAYLC) is an annual high school program that invites students to learn and share in Asian and Pacific Islander topics, promote education, build self-confidence, and develop leadership skills. The event is organized by a team of community volunteers and is presented by the Chinese American Citizens Alliance Portland Lodge.

We are happy to share that this year's 2021 Asian American Youth Leadership Conference is on Friday, April 23, 2021.  This is an EXCELLENT conference. AAYLC is, “Helping Asian American youth rise above the obstacles before them to achieve their potential by promoting education, instilling self-confidence, and developing leadership skills.”  Like last year, this will be a virtual conference and FREE.

Each year, close to 500 high school students, selected from multiple school districts, both public and private, from Oregon and SW Washington attend the Asian American Youth Leadership Conference. Students from diverse ethnic backgrounds throughout the Asian continent as well as the Pacific Islands are among those who will be in attendance.

The upcoming conference’s theme is “Together in Solidarity” and features Katherine Ho as the keynote. Katherine is a singer/songwriter from Thousand Oaks, CA whose voice has been featured in national commercials, TV shows, and feature films. She is best known for her Mandarin cover of Coldplay’s “Yellow” by Zheng Jun (郑钧) based on the Li Wenqi (李文琦) version that was featured on the soundtrack of the hit Hollywood film, Crazy Rich Asians. She is currently a senior at the University of Southern California (USC) where she studies Human Biology and pursues her interests in a cappella and Asian culture through her involvement in Trogons, USC’s East-Asian a cappella group.

We hope you take advantage of this exciting opportunity.
