Reflecting on my CRLE #1 & #2 (10 points)

You must complete the CRLE reflection worksheet to document two Career-Related Learning Experiences (CRLE) during high school that have impacted your future planning and career skills. The CRLEs should NOT include internship hours, but could reflect YTA experience, guest speakers, job experiences, college visits, career fairs, taking a college class, etc.

CRLEs are structured student activities in the community, the workplace, or in school that connect academic content and career-related learning to real life applications.These experiences extend, reinforce and support classroom learning. They include, but are not limited to: workplace mentoring; workplace simulations; school-based enterprises; structured work experiences; cooperative work and study programs; on-the-job training; apprenticeship programs; service learning; and field-based investigations.
Other examples are YTA service learning, college fairs, part-time jobs, job interviews, guest speakers, college visits.

Workplace Experience Evaluation Form (10 points)

At the end of the 20 hours, you will need to have your supervisor complete the

Workplace Experience Student Evaluation form to evaluate your skills in the workplace and give you feedback on your performance at your internship site. You will need to schedule a 20-30 minute meeting with your supervisor ahead of time to get all paperwork signed, complete this evaluation, and your Professional Exit Interview Experience in order to complete the project. Internship sites will be contacted by CMC staff to verify student placement and progress.

Terms & Conditions Form and Hours Log (10 points)

Please have your internship supervisor review and sign the Terms and Conditions Form before you begin your experience. Track your hours on the Hours Log and have your supervisor initial/sign as needed to document 20 hours.

Working Towards Completion of Internship Hours

By this time, all students should have an internship placement and be working towards completing your 20 hours of experience. Aim to complete all hours by November 28th.

Please make sure to have your supervisor sign the Terms and Conditions Form and be tracking your hours on the Hours Log. Internship sites will be contacted by CMC staff to verify student placement and progress.

At the end of the 20 hours, you will need to have your supervisor complete the Workplace Experience Student Evaluation and the Professional Exit Interview Experience Evaluation form so make sure to schedule a 30 minute meeting with your supervisor well ahead of the December 9th due date for all paperwork. See following assignments for more information about the evaluation and interview process.

Internship Experience Proposal (10 points)

This project requires that students proactively seek out a site to complete 20 hours of career experience that is approved by CMC staff. Internship placements may include volunteering, job shadowing, formal training experiences, or paid jobs (in some cases). In order to help you in finding a site to complete your internship, we recommend you
take the following steps:

Read the articles How to Get an Internship and Internships for High School Students.
Check out our CMC database of internship/volunteering sites and list of local internship opportunities
- CMC Internship/Volunteering Sites & Job Search Resources Database
- Internship Opportunities 2016
Attend one September workshop on either 9/28 from 3:00-3:45pm or 9/30 from 12:00-12:45pm for help finding an internship placement
Meet with Kyle McDowell in the CMC College and Career Center
cmccollegecareer@gmail.com to make a plan to complete your hours

When you have a plan for where you would like to complete your hours, please submit the CMC Internship Proposal Google Form no later than October 14th (the earlier, the better) for approval to begin hours. Kyle McDowell will confirm by email or in person that your proposal has been approved so you can begin your internship. This assignment is worth 10 points.

Resume Draft (10 points)
The first step to a successful internship or job search is to create a professional resume that outlines your experience and skills. A draft of your resume is due to Kyle McDowell (email to cmccollegecareer@gmail.com by October 7th. We recommend using Word or Google Docs to create your resume so it is an editable document. Here are some resources to help you create your resume:

Review the online Resume Workshop page on CMC’s College and Career Center site for tons of links and tips on building a great resume.
Read the Resume Building Information document for detailed information about each section of the resume and other tips.
You can use the Resume Worksheet for a template or try out the CCC Resume Builder tool to help you get started.

After you submit your draft, the Resume Workshops on 10/19 from 1:00-3:00pm (drop-in resume help) or 10/21 from 12:00-12:45 will be a great time for you to receive feedback on your resumes. Please also feel free to make an appointment with Kyle at cmccollegecareer@gmail.com if you’d like more one-on-one help with your resume.
