"Families are like fudge- mostly sweet with a few nuts." I would have to agree. Most families anymore in the world today are not perfect. A lot of them half their ups and downs and the occasional few that are either dis-owned or are the "crazy" ones. Although this is normally seen as a bad thing, i believe that those people are who make the relationships within the family better.
"A family is a unit composed nont only of children but of men, women, an occasional animal, and the common cold." This is true as well. Family is everything you hold close and are willing to take and recieve from one another. It doesn't have to be a direct family as long as it is someone or something that you can rely on and completely trust.
Please forgive my typo's oops :-D
The great advantage of living in a large family is that early lesson of life's essential unfairness. ~Nancy Mitford
I completely agree. My brother and I had it so easy until our foster kids moved in. Now things are tough at times and I am always telling myself having a large family is unfair and that I will only have one or two kids. I know this is just me being selfish right now and its harder in our case because they arent really our family. But I still think that by having a large family you may take away time with your children individually. And Kids/teens really do need quality time with their parents.

I feel this is saying that, people or expiriences will change us but at the end of the day we are who are family is. When times get tough or you have a bad day, in most cases when you go home you can turn to your family. And family doesnt mean just your parents. Our family is anyone we want it to be. So even a close friend we can lean on. There is always someone there thats our family and who will be there for us when things change or times get tough.

I think this one makes sense for Fred Allen considering he was a comedian. It got a smirk out of me as that's how I've felt many times.
