Welcome Back,
As we enter a new school year it is important to manage our time wisley.
Here are a few tips to time management:
1. Make a "To Do" List Every Day.
Put things that are most important at the top and do them first. If it's easier, use a planner to track all of your tasks. And don't forget to reward yourself for your accomplishments.
2. Use Spare Minutes Wisely.
Get some reading done on the bus ride home from school, for example, and you'll kill two birds with one stone.
3. It's Okay to Say "No."
If your boss asks you to work on a Thursday night and you have a final exam the next morning, realize that it's okay to say no. Keep your short- and long-term priorities in mind.
4. Find the Right Time.
You'll work more efficiently if you figure out when you do your best work. For example, if your brain handles math better in the afternoon, don't wait to do it until late at night.
5. Review Your Notes Every Day.
You'll reinforce what you've learned, so you need less time to study. You'll also be ready if your teacher calls on you or gives a pop quiz.
6. Get a Good Night's Sleep.
Running on empty makes the day seem longer and your tasks seem more difficult.
7. Communicate Your Schedule to Others.
If phone calls are proving to be a distraction, tell your friends that you take social calls from 7-8 p.m. It may sound silly, but it helps.
8. Become a Taskmaster.
Figure out how much free time you have each week. Give yourself a time budget and plan your activities accordingly.
9. Don't Waste Time Agonizing.
Have you ever wasted an entire evening by worrying about something that you're supposed to be doing? Was it worth it? Instead of agonizing and procrastinating, just do it.
10. Keep Things in Perspective.
Setting goals that are unrealistic sets you up for failure. While it's good to set high goals for yourself, be sure not to overdo it. Set goals that are difficult yet reachable.
Consider these tips, but personalize your habits so that they suit you. If you set priorities that fit your lifestyle, you'll have a better chance of achieving your goals.
If you have tips or need help with time management please respond.
Good Luck.

Dear Dan,
I just got the news that my comment had to be a paragraph long, so now i am writing a real response to your blog. In your blog you give a step by step instruction manual on how to be a good student and there very good. The struggles i have in school is defiantly, procrastination, I have a very hard time on making myself do work when i can be doing so many other things. I think if i was to actually figure out how to set my goals right then i could probably do better in school

The tips are a great help. I have really had a hard time getting all my work done and with the notes that i take i can't read them. I think that setting time aside will help me with my work because i am going to be working a job from 4:00 - 10:00 PM three nights a week. I think it is a helpful blog and is very College readiness style.
You are a very helpful teacher and good to work with.

Dear dan,
Well i find your tips verry helpful, and good to follow. I also think something that might help is to eat breakfast. It helps you think better, and helps you wake up. Then you arent hungry all the time. I think it would be hard for me to actualy do a "to do" list because i can never seem to follow those, but i do use a planner which helps me alot to stay on top of things especialy homework. If i did not have it then i would forget to do home work. OH NO!! The tips help alot for new kids to this school they sure helped me! :)

amanda smells like death
All these tips are very good and efficiant ways to help with time management. I could see myself using these tips everyday to help keep me more organized.
Sometimes planning things out ahead of time make things much less stressful and easier. There is never anything wrong with a little organization.
i like your idea about using planners . i hate using them maybe because im lazy , but i found out in the past that it relly does work . I have a really bad meomory so using them helps me to remnd me that i have work for classess and when the work is done. That away the teacher doesn't trip out and get mad , because i forgot to turn in an asaignment . So i think all the students here should start using them it will help them stay organized.

Mr.Jenkins I find your comments very helpful. They sound like something I would need to use in my life more often.Espectialy the one talking about getting a good night sleep and using spare time wisely.
Time management is extremely important in our lives. Setting goals for the day is a great way to help you accomplish what you have to do. Using all your time wisely is going to help you finish everything you need at a perfect time. When we have limited time we shouldn't panick but try to do the most important things proir to anything else. We need to work on these skills to be successful in life.
Thanks Dan. Those comments are very helpful, and i will proceed to follow them. Escpecially when talking about more time to "sleep." The more sleep we have at night, the more attention span we'll get during the day.
thx dan your there when i need you....
dan,,, thx you for giving me late work and i turn it in late but you give me full credit...
