CMC has responded to the diverse needs of its students through the development of the Student Academic Planning process. This support team focuses on using a holistic school approach for the development of individual academic and behavioral student interventions. It is the main goal of this team/process to exhaust all general education strategies prior to referring for special education or 504 related services. To accomplish this, the entire staff participates in a weekly team meeting that focuses on supporting students who have been identified as being at risk for school failure.
Rationale:
- Inclusive, team based approached, all teachers participate in planning process
- Focuses on supporting teachers to develop systems and strategies for supporting/teaching all students
- Provides individualized interventions for students (in a general education setting)
- Promotes professional development
- Interventions are based on data collected by each teacher
